Background
People in Need (PIN) is an international, non-profit organization providing humanitarian and development assistance in over 20 countries worldwide. Formed in 1992 in the Czech Republic, PIN has grown to be the biggest organization of its kind in post-communist Europe, providing relief where it is needed, and empowering civil society at home and abroad.
PIN is looking to hire a lawyer to support its operation in Amman, Jordan.
Tasks:
Process all legal matters as required including:
• PIN Registration in Jordan, at the Ministry of Trade, Company Control Department, Social Security Department, and other Governmental authorities for regulatory purposes (license renewal and issuance)
• Support revision of the PIN National Staff Handbook to be compliant with Jordanian labor law
• Support the PIN Liaison to liaise with governmental offices in Jordan if PIN is required to submit additional information
• Following up with the Jordanian Customs Department, Taxation Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade, and any related governmental procedures having any types of taxes or Customs exemptions
• Providing legal advice and counsel, both oral and written, on all matters about the strategic business of PIN in Jordan
• Advising on PIN in all legal matters related to banking and operations in Jordan
• Legal representation at meetings and discussions when it is anticipated that legal counsel is required
• Representing PIN in court cases and other legal proceedings brought by or against PIN in connection with its business in Jordan
Remuneration structure:
The Lawyer will be paid on a monthly basis
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's Degree or Masters in Law
• Fluent in Arabic and English language
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• NGO organizational experience is an advantage – aware of the general rules and regulations of NGOs, commitments towards neutrality, and safeguarding throughout the project activities.
• Timeliness in the delivery of outputs and respect towards agreed schedules and deadlines
